Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

In other non-quilt-related news, I was busy this weekend redecorating my daughter's room. She just started high school on Tuesday, so my friend and I thought it would be fun to gut her room and give her a completely fresh start to the next phase of her life. Though they're embarassing, before pictures always make the after pics look 1000 times better:

My lovely friend Maren (I've mentioned her here before) and I spent half a day sorting through piles, throwing things in trash bags, and moving items to be kept into the living room. Have you ever done a deep clean and organization with a good friend? You should! We laughed the whole time and it made the work seem much less stressful than it would have otherwise been.

We then proceeded to paint and try to put the room back in order. Our plan was to finish in one day. I think we were a little insane.

It took all weekend, but after our hard work, we had...

...8 large black trash bags full (and then some), 5 smaller white trash bags to go to Goodwill, and a room that looks like this:

The far wall is a deep purple, the side walls grey, and the wall with the entry and closet doors green, just to keep the storage containers with green drawers tied in to the rest of the room. It's lovely, and even better, my daughter is thrilled. She's been making her bed every morning, though, honestly, that could be because I threatened to throw anything away that isn't in it's place from here on out. Can you blame me???
