I'm featured over on the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild blog today. Hop on over, if you'd like to learn more about little ol' me.
If not, here's a picture of my latest Olympic Ogee!
I'm very excited to report that I have already secured the services of one Lisa Sipes for the quilting. She does special work and I wanted this to be super special, since I'm hand piecing it. I'll need to be patient regarding delivery, but as I told her, genius is worth the wait.

That's a great photo of you!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo. Lovely hexie
ReplyDeleteI read the MMQ profile of you--nicely done and the pic is great too. You look lovely but also kind of sly and full of mischief, which I happen to know is true.
ReplyDeleteA couple of things:
1. My dog is NOT stinky--she gets regular baths and her teeth are cleaned by the vet. So there. Also, she loves the quilt and really isn't that the reason you made it? It actually doesn't look too bad; maybe a little faded now because it gets washed regularly as well. Want me to send you a picture?
2. I do have a much less painful way to baste, which I do on my work table. I have two large C-clamps and attach them to the back edge of the table, the width of the quilt if possible. Then I put down backing, batting and top, secured tightly under the C-clamps in the back and smoothed out carefully as you would on the floor. You can only do the depth of the table at a time, but if you're careful to smooth it out as you reposition and clamp it works quite well. Same idea if the quilt is wider than the table--I'd do as wide a section as possible, the length of the quilt, then shift to the unbasted side. It may take longer than using the floor but your knees will thank you.
Love you! I'm proud of you!
Mom
PS Depending on the thickness of your table, large binder clips work too. Or any other handy took you have which will hold the quilt tightly and not let it slip.
