Cutting and cutting and cutting

I had a bad one last week. My sometime quilting companion and nightly snuggle buddy has gone to the great warm soft spot in the sky.

So I decided to hole myself up in my studio all weekend. I began by making some test blocks.

When I found that they would be better with a slight modification, I proceeded to cut all the fabric for the top.

Then, I cut the fabric for another top and finished the first block.

This is block A of Lily's Quilts Jack Attack. You can find her tutorial and laid-back quilt-along here. It's going to be fab-yoo-lus!

And then, I cut into a very large stack of fabrics that have been waiting for me to get to them.

I have 820 4.5" purple squares. That in and of itself is enough for the large king quilt I'm creating (my biggest, so far), but then I have to go and make it more interesting. See the green squares in front of the purple and the as-yet-to-be-cut stack peeking out from behind? Yeah. That's going to be some kick ass Dan Rouse-inspired action, baby.

And THEN, I turned to a little Mondrian Dream quilting.

I'm feeling the call, so it will likely be finished in the next month, or so. Sarah will be so pleased!

  2. It must make sewing a little too quiet. So sorry for your loss. I quilt with five cats around me. I know it's hard.

  3. I'm so sorry to read the sad news about your lovely cat. I know how difficult it can be, especially when your cat is a quilting & snuggling companion. I hope that keeping busy helps you.
